What the result tells you

Working or dead. A proxy is only called working here if it accepted the connection, passed the request through, and returned the page that was actually asked for. A proxy that answers with its own error page or an advert is reported as intercepting rather than working, because for any real use it is broken.

Response time. Measured from this server, which sits in Germany. A proxy in Singapore will look slow here and may be fast where you are. Compare proxies against each other on this page rather than against a number you saw elsewhere.

Country and ISP. Taken from the address the proxy exits on, not the address you typed. Those are often different — a gateway in one country can hand you an exit somewhere else entirely, which is exactly what you want to check before you buy.

Anonymity level. Four outcomes, and the difference between them matters:

• Elite — nothing in the request said it came through a proxy. This is what you are paying for.
• Anonymous — your address stayed hidden, but the request carried headers announcing a proxy. Most sites will not care; the ones that check will.
• Distorting — an address was forwarded, but not the real one. You stay hidden, and the traffic is still marked as proxied.
• Transparent — the connecting address was passed straight through. This offers no anonymity whatsoever, whatever it was sold as.

What it cannot tell you

One request at one moment. A proxy that passes here can fail on the site you actually care about, because the blocking that matters is done by your target, not by us. It also cannot tell you whether an IP is already burned on a particular platform — only the platform knows that.

Privacy

Credentials are used for the single connection you asked for and then discarded. They are never written to the database or to a log, and no record is kept of which proxies were tested or by whom. A stored list of working proxies with passwords attached would be a liability, and this tool does not need one to work.
